《THE SPINNING EARTH》
The earth's energy flows in a circular form, similar to the rotation of the Earth and the cycle of life. Pottery made on a potter's wheel can be seen as a metaphor for the characteristics of soil, where all things are born and returned to the earth. The art of pottery is not only revealed in its physical structure but also in its cultural and historical significance. Throughout history, different civilizations have exchanged ideas and techniques, resulting in ceramics becoming a medium for diverse fusions. The East Asian ceramic culture, in particular, has been admired for its ability to include and create through the crossing of boundaries between objects and symbols, crafts and art, and industry and culture. It symbolizes the power of the earth and its constant expansion.
This exhibition aims to showcase the Namwon ceramic culture by presenting a collection of contemporary artworks that resonate with the earth's imagination, alongside old ceramics. Through the rotation of different media and time, we will witness the power of condensation and expansion of the earth, suggesting a new and innovative approach to ceramics.
