Design Story

1. Role of the City Brand

The city brand serves as both an indicator and a compass for new changes within the city, anchoring the diverse activities of Namwon City on its present values while adding a vision for the future. It acts as the focal point for conveying the city’s multifaceted charm and image.

2. Slogan

The new brand slogan for Namwon City, ‘Blossoming Namwon,’ encapsulates the city's transformation through culture, arts, and future industries, mingled with stories of love and traditional Korean music. This scalable slogan effectively conveys the diverse values of Namwon City such as love, culture, art, nature, industry, and the future.

3. Design

For the first time, Namwon City's new BI is based on the artwork of local artist Kim Byeong-jong, using his Hwahongsansu as the motif to express the renewal of culture and future. The emotional and universally relatable flower motif conveys the city's dynamism and cultural sensibility. The square typeface used with the motif harmonizes with the image, while its strokes extending in all directions depict the geographical feature of Namwon as a hub connecting Yeongnam and Honam.
